It’s almost New Year’s Day. It’s almost 2016. It’s tradition to make resolutions; to declare that you’re going to work specifically toward something for the next year. It could be self-improvement (have you ever seen the number of new people at the gym in January?!), it could be a financial goal. It could be relationship-based (finding true love, mending fences with someone you had a falling out with). Well, Outdoor Adventures has the facilities and ability to help you reach or at least work toward some of your New Year’s resolutions!
Let’s start with that favorite of “getting in shape” or “losing weight.” There are many ways you can get to stay active while you’re a guest of Outdoor Adventures. Several of our resorts have fitness centers on site. Some people have even made it habit to use the facilities on a daily basis to get their workouts in. There are also pools and lakes, in which you can swim laps or work on general fitness in a way that’s easy on your joints. You could rent a kayak or boat and get some arm work in, or you could rent a paddle boat and get a leg workout in! You can walk the nature trails, alone or with your camping friends and family. You can catch one of the group exercise activities, such as Walk Away the Pounds, held at various resorts. Play some basketball or volleyball. All are great ways to work to improve your physical health, not to mention your mental well-being. Exercise and endorphins are good for you!
How about a resolution to spend more time with your family? We see a great number of families at Outdoor Adventures each year. Kids of all ages, grandparents and parents… doesn’t matter. Everyone has a good time together. Sitting around the camp fire, making s’mores, going on a bike ride, playing a round of putt putt, playing cards at your picnic or dining table, hitting the lake for the day. The memories you’ll make will last a lifetime!
Many people make a resolution to travel to new places. While Outdoor Adventures as a company has been around for more than 20 years, we’ve added two new parks in the last year alone! For many of you, a trip to Mount Pleasant Resort or Grand Haven Resort would fulfill this resolution. And hey… a successful day at the casino just minutes away from Mount Pleasant Resort (or Saginaw Bay Resort, for that matter) could help you reach your financial resolution for the year too!
Is one of your goals to “be less stressed”, or should it be? Certainly, enjoying the peace of sitting around a camp fire, listening to the crickets chirp outside your door, sunbathing on the beach, or relaxing in a tube or canoe on the river would help to alleviate some of your stress!
Many people talk about wanting to spend more time “unplugged.” We are quick to take our Smartphones everywhere with us. We don’t engage in as much personal, meaningful conversation with those around us. When we have time to spare, many of us tend to spend it perusing the internet. Imagine how different your days and moments with your kids would be, how wonderful your memories and theirs would be, if you spent that time actively involved, actively engaged, with each other? What better time is there than when you’re outdoors? Than when you’re camping?
Do you simply want to “enjoy life to the fullest?” One great way to work toward that is to make the most of your time “away.” Make a point to make your “you time” QUALITY time. Don’t let those precious moments waste away. Do something you’ll remember. Do something your family will remember. Make the most of every minute.
You have just a couple of days until the new year begins. Whether you’ve already made your list of resolutions or not, find a way to let Outdoor Adventures help you make 2016 your best year yet!
Happy New Year, and best of luck to you from us!
